Desirée Weiss

Désirée Weiss is responsible for the Global SAP Engagement at the Zurich Insurance Company, where she has worked for the last ten years. Before taking the responsibility for SAP Licenses Portfolio & Relationship (incl. Sybase, BO, ARIBA etc.), Désirée had the positions of Lead Disaster Recovery in Europe and Service Management Performance Specialist, IT Relationship Manager Zurich Agents at Zurich Insurance Company, and  IT Contract Specialist for SW and professional Services. Previously, 2000-2007, Désirée was first engaged as Head Information Warehousing Reporting and from 2004 as a Technical Purchasing Specialist at Telekurs Services AG, now part of the SIX Group AG.

Software License Management as an organizational challenge

Henrik Udsen, Professor, Dr. Jur., University of Copenhagen

Henrik Udsen is Head of Centre for Information and Innovation Law at the University of Copenhagen and became Dr. Jur. in 2009 based on a thesis on "Doctrines of information law".

The Centre for Information and Innovation Law (CIIR) deals with the legal issues within the information and innovation law areas such as copyright, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, data protection and personality rights. The research of CIIR includes both national and international regulation.

In the IT department, Dr. Uwe Vehlies is responsible for  various tasks related to SAP including SAP system measurements.

Lau Normann Jørgensen

Lau Normann Jørgensen is a partner with Kromann Reumert in Copenhagen and heads the firm's TMT group. In that capacity he has drafted, negotiated and - occasionally - litigated license agreements for 20 years. Lau is past president of the Association of Danish Technology Lawyers and co-author of that association's and the Danish IT Society's guidelines on license management and license audits.

Richard Spithoven

Richard Spithoven is one of the partners at b.lay. He brings more than nine years of relevant license management experience to his new role having previously served as regional director of compliance at Oracle. Richard uses his knowledge of the last decade in Oracle License Management Services to educate, equip and enable software end-users in their challenges with regards to proper software license management. Richard holds a master degree in IT, from the University of Amsterdam in The Netherlands.

Daniel Begg

Danny has been in IT for over 20years with 15 years consultancy and solution architecture experience in a number of fields. Danny specialised within SAM/HAM/SACM space over the past 5years and currently works within the Home Retail Group (Argos) running the SAM team and the SAM managed services for the group.
Danny is an active member within the SAM community publishing articles within Linkedin to freely impart information and knowledge to the community and to challenge business and delivery practices in a positive and constructive manner to push SAM boundaries to ensure their appropriateness in today’s business and push the SAM industry to improve and to deliver the value the clients now demand

Audit defense or negotiated compliance?

Managing an audit from the customer perspectiv; from planning, ressourcing and legal implications through to executive support, decision making and negotiation.

Audits can be seen as a negative trigger point in the SAM lifecycle but they can be a positive influence and impact dependant on how they are managed, and negotiated with the vendor.

Mark Baltzersen

Mark is former IT Director and CIO in larger Danish companies like Aalborg Portland, Egmont and Danisco.

Through out his career he has been involved in large projects in different areas incl. ERP, most of them on SAP. Mark has performed the role as Project Manager and Enterprise Architect along side general IT Management which makes him a solid connetion between management and IT.

Currently Mark works with Secorigo as a Management consultant. Engagements include audit defence and advizory, license optimization on SAP, IT Contract lifecycle and financial impact in on-premise and cloud engagements.

Financial impact and considerations in Cloud and on premise engagements


Traditionally, companies depreciate the purchase of software licenses and handle the yearly software maintenance fees as operational expense (OPEX).
In typical Cloud engagements, the ownership of the licenses is at the vendor. This enables the customers to handle the software costs as OPEX.

Shifting Capital expenses (CAPEX) to OPEX can be beneficial for organizations and a route to stretch budgets – at least from an accounting standpoint.
However, increasing your company’s OPEX may have negative impact on the market value of your company!

Recent updated accounting guidelines enable the depreciation of major parts of both your software maintenance costs of own licenses and costs of SaaS.

Jesper founded IT InterGroup A/S, an Identity & Access Management consultancy and later password management company FastPassCorp. After a successful IPO the consulting division was sold on to PWC.
Besides his role as chairman at ITAMOrg Jesper runs since 2012 Secorigo, an independant consultancy within Lean Software Asset Management.

Roundtable - ITAM competencies & awareness - a key driver for ITAM success

The ITAM market continues to grow year over year in terms of revenue for the tool providers and the service providers. A 7% CAGR underpins the need in the market for tools and services to support the growing complexity in ITAM.
Yet, the single most important factor for ITAM success is the organizational buy-in that basically starts with raising the awareness and competencies across the entire organization. While SAM managers and license managers may reach a certain level of knowledge to understand how to respond to the complexity in ITAM you still need to establish a basic understanding of the importance of ITAM awareness across the organization. In a recent publication Gartner has estimated that by 2018 the lack of SAM competencies will make 50% of organizations dependent on Service Providers.
